I started shooting at Hinterland Field Archers about 9 years ago
After one of their displays & ” try & shoot ” at a medieval fair held at Kurrawa Park Broad Beach.
I fell in love with archery from that day on & signed up with the club the following weekend.
I took up traditional archery to start with, as it’s probably the most basic set up to start on . The following years I practiced & competed in the local / state & national archery tournaments . Some of my greatest achievements during this time were winning gold at the 2014 Masters Games for archery & winning both national titles & 3D Archery Association of Australia Shooter of the Year awards from 2016 to 2019.
2019 I qualified to shoot at the IBO world championships in West Virginia. USA. Over 3 days of competition I finally won the IBO World championship title in traditional archery.
Unfortunately Covid put a stop to any international shooting in 2020 , & I shifted my focus to World archery events.
Whist still training at HFA , using the clubs facilities & with the help of the committee members I focused on target archery in 2022 I took part in the Australian National target championships held in Samford Valley I finish the event with 2 gold medals , 2 silver medals & a bronze in the open Barebow category.
Currently I’m training for the Archery Australia National championship 2023 & hopefully get the opportunity to represent Australia again on the international stage at the Pan Pacific games held in early 2024 .
None of these achievements would of been possible without Hinterland Field Archers. In the 9 + years I’ve been a member, the club has gone from strength to strength. Providing the members of the community a safe space to practice archery & facilities that allow members to practice to a world championship standard. From the serious professional to the weekend shooter the club & members have always been hospitable & accommodating .
I am proud to tell people I’m a member of Hinterland Field Archers.
